I Saw Red - Noora-Maija Tokee
It is said that the colors and longing for the colors tell our current feelings. Color is a subjective experience that effects us subconsciously. I started with the red color during my stay in Istanbul. The work environment I had, was dull and not inspiring at all. I sat opposite to an abandoned house outside my workplace and followed the people passing by. I painted a wall, and began photographing the people . The wall drew attention and woke up their senseworld. It worked in the same way in Stockholm. When people are in motion they are often so to say in their own world and not really relizing what?s going on around them. The motion is not just seeing, it?s also about feeling it. A movement takes a certain amount of time, you can repeat it, but never in the exact same way. People standing still also have a sense of motion, just in another way. Time is movement and movement is change. The change happened when someone realized the red wall and decided to change it.
